A Professional Fiduciary, is an individual licensed to manage and handle the affairs of others. Professional Fiduciaries are held to the highest level of trust, and to act in the best interest of those they represent who can no longer handle their own affairs or who may already be deceased.

Professional Fiduciaries can act either by legal documents or by appointment of the Court in one or more roles.  Their duties will align with their appointment and may include managing a person's financial affairs, business and investment matters, making healthcare and medical decisions, and in some instances, even making end of life decisions.  A Professional Fiduciaries goal is to act in the best interest of each individual they represent and provide the least restrictive alternatives while caring out the beneficiaries wishes (and requests).  

Regardless of the size of the estate, utilizing a Professional Fiduciary can be a cost savings in time and efficiency, and more importantly, knowing the legal terrain that is associated with these various affairs.

A Professional Fiduciary may be commonly referred as a Trustee, Conservator, Guardian or Executor.    

California is one of a few states that require, persons acting on behalf of others, in carrying out the financial and personal affairs, to be licensed earning the distinct designation of Private Professional Fiduciary (PPF). California requires these licenses to be renewed annually.

CPA's may act only to which they are licensed, that being financial, unless they are licensed as well as a PPF.
